FERTILITY

Fertility Treatment

Few people are actually truly infertile, yet more and more couples are having difficulty conceiving. They are a number of recognised factors such as age, high level of stress, inadequate nutrition, poor sleep, immune issues, poor sperm or follicle quality. It takes 90 days for a follicle/egg to change from dormant stage to ovulation and 72 days for the lifecycle of the sperm.

Acupuncture stimulates the peripheral nervous system, which effects the central nervous system, which regulates the autonomic nervous system. Generally speaking, the results of this are pain relief, relaxation, and inflammation reduction. All of them are very important in fertility.

Stress will increase the level of cortisol which in turn suppress the normal level of reproductive hormones. In women it may lead to abnormal ovulation, anovulation or amenorrhea and in men it will reduce the testosterone level which in turn is linked with a lower sperm count.

Treatment

STARTING YOUR TREATMENT

Your initial consultation will last one hour during which I will take a detailed case history covering your medical history, injuries, nutrition, and both party(spelling??) fertility journey.

The most appropriate course of treatment as well as adjustment to your lifestyle (if required) will be discussed before embarking on a course of treatment.

Fertility support takes time. We normally advised a minimum of three months to help you prepare for an IVF cycle or to try naturally.

Side by side reflexology treatment is also very beneficial.

We may ask you to see a nutritionist to help you on your journey.

Treatment is likely to be a mixture of osteopathy and acupuncture techniques as both are relevant.

As such on your first session you will be asked to undress down to your underwear to have a full assessment.

Often for the following sessions loose clothing is suitable.
