Fibromyalgia Syndrome
Fibromyalgia or Fibromyalgia Syndrome is an extremely debilitating medical disorder that affects an estimated 2-4% of the population.
Unfortunately there is no known cure.
For some unknown reason it is much more prominent in women (90% of cases) with most sufferers in the 20 – 50 age group.
Fibromyalgia Syndrome Symptoms
Fibromyalgia Syndrome is characterised by chronic widespread muscular pain.
It is generally accompanied by a number of other symptoms such as extreme fatigue, poor sleep patterns and joint stiffness.
Memory and concentration issues (fibro-fog), headaches and bladder/bowel problems are all common too.

Cause of Fybromyalgia
The cause of Fibromyalgia Syndrome is not known but seems to be triggered by a big event which stresses the central nervous system into a state of hypersensitivity. This in turn generates exaggerated (and very painful) responses to simple stimuli.
Physical or mental trauma are common precursors; possibly a car accident, exam pressure, a bereavement or a simple viral infection.
Diagnosing Fybromyaglia
Diagnosis is not straightforward since Fybromyaglia shares symptoms with a number of other conditions.
It is usually reached after eliminating the likes of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE or simply Lupus), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) from the frame.
It is also characterised by the presence of a large number of known tender points around the body.

Testimonials
I always had a lot of back pain which my GP said was arthritis. The medicines were of no help. I eventually went to see Cecile who had doubts about the arthritis. She sent me for x-rays which turned out normal. She suspected fibromyalgia and this was later confirmed. The treatment Cecile is now giving me is far more effective.
Anne Sealy, Ashford
I had gone through all kinds of medical treatment for my fibromyalgia. I felt totally exhausted and without hope until I met Cecile. Since she started treating me I feel my life is back on track and I’ve even re-started playing in the orchestra I belonged to a few years ago.
